Keeps oxygenated blood circulating around the body's tissues and vital organs, works particularly well when breaths are given. Here; the first aider is acting as the heart by compressing the chest at a rate of 100-120 beats per minutes. After each 30 compressions, two effective breaths are given within 5 seconds.

We only use 4% of the oxygen in the air we breathe, the rest is exhaled
